Philadelphia’s Daroff Design worked with New York designer Steve Lewis to conceive a design that leans heavily on directional lighting, reflectivity, transparency and color to set the tone for this dessert-only destination. The result is a stunning example of modern design showcasing warm browns, creams and tans.
A key design feature is the large atrium above the main dining area. The cutout is lined with mirrors and equipped with 600 strategically places fiber optic lights. The atrium’s jewel is a large reflective chrome orb, surrounding the orb are 1,000 six-foot faceted lead glass crystals strands totaling 104,000 crystals. Using the mirror’s reflections the illusion of an infinite field of crystals is realized. Hanging from an indentation in the middle of the orb is an antique crystal turn of the century chandelier.
Caramel colored banquettes with pony skin patterned seat backs adorn the main dining area, while fiber optic lights emit a soft amber glow that plays off the restaurants mirrors and crystals to create a cozy feel. A mix of white concrete and mica on the floor creates the dynamic look of freshly fallen snow crystals. |
